has been selected as the architects for a large expansion
to Door Creek Church. The project involves cafe-like
multipurpose community spaces, a new 300 seat chapel/worship
space, education and office space. The goal of the project
is to create a sense of community by drawing on the
best characteristics of gathering spaces in our contemporary
culture, like coffee shops, “Third Places”
and retail environments. We are currently working on
concept design and schematics, and creating a site master
plan and exterior rendering for fundraising purposes.
In 2000,
we completed the existing Door Creek Church. Our original
master planning for Door Creek’s mixed-use development
on a 32-acre site involved a Specific Implementation
Plan. We worked with the church to plan a new facility
to accommodate this spiritual community’s future
growth. Phase I construction included an expandable
auditorium, library, classrooms, meeting rooms, nurseries,
administrative offices and a multi-purpose space. The
prairie style of the building relates to the residential
neighborhood. An atrium serves as a central gathering
hub, while a flexible quad of four contiguous spaces
provide educational and meeting areas with state of
the art projection booths, stages and lighting. A flexible,
multi-purpose worship space accommodates 750 to 800
people and is expandable to 1,200 people. |
