Venture

Venture Investors is one of the leading providers of seed and early stage venture capital in the Midwest, and has a proven track record of identifying and financing world-class technology companies in this region. The new office in Madison, Wisconsin is located within the multi-tenant MG&E Innovation Center. The Center is in the heart of the University Research Park, home to 114 emerging research and development companies.

One of the design challenges in this 4,000 square foot office suite was creating a unique and eye-catching facade, while complying with the rules and regulations of this multi-tenant building. The client wanted visitors to be drawn into the space, with a direct connection from the corridor into the lobby space. To achieve this effect, a niche was created in the corridor through the use of a unique ceiling finish, lights, accent paint colors, and custom curved wood framed windows with textured glass. The curved walls provide a direction of movement into the final destination of the Venture Investors suite.

The custom-design reception desk is built to reflect the fluid shape of the lobby. At one end of the desk, a circular display area featuring custom blue, glass tile and a frosted glass counter top accentuates the flowing curves of the desk. A beautiful backdrop is created through the use of a custom curly maple veneer featuring the company logo. The maple wood finish from the window trim in the conference rooms is carried through to the reception desk and display wall, and onward to the trim in the rest of the suite. A small conference room features a curved textured glass wall and maple detailing. The light-filled large conference room has a bright blue accent wall and a window linking the space to the two-story main lobby of the building.

Large windows into the private offices allow natural daylight to fill the corridor, creating an open feeling between the rooms. Accent walls, bulkheads, and special lighting coordinated with storage niches and artwork displays break up the space, and allow visual resting spots along the corridor. The finish palette and abundance of natural light create a warm, comfortable atmosphere.
