Lowell Center

Strang designed a renovation to update the entrance, reception, lobby and support spaces of Lowell Center at the University of Wisconsin Extension in Madison. The renovation enhances the appearance of the front entrance and lobby, and creates a dramatic entrance on Frances Street to improve way finding for visitors. The hotel-like lounge, featuring a natural gas fireplace, will provide a warm and welcoming reception and a pleasant place for conference attendees to mix and mingle. An updated patio provides an enjoyable outdoor gathering area.

Originally built as a dorm in 1960, Lowell was converted into a conference center in 1969. Today, the facility includes classrooms and conference areas to accommodate groups from ten to 100 people for the University of Wisconsin institutions, State of Wisconsin agencies and other educational and governmental groups. The building also features a dining/kitchen facility and guest rooms.
