Madison Gas and Electric provided the funding for the solar canopy project. The goal of this project was to provide information pertaining to photovoltaic technology. By locating the project close to the state capital, it is MGE’s hope to increase awareness at the legislative level to increase funding for building integrated systems. Power generated by the solar canopy is directed to a DC converter and then used to power its lights, or it is directed back to the local power grid.
