The 24,000-s.f. renovation transformed an existing 2-story
shopping center into a library and public health office. In
the library, emphasis was placed upon aesthetics, acoustics,
and lighting, as well as exceeding ADA requirements and supporting
current and future technologies.
The remodeled public health area includes offices, a clinic,
reception area, public community space and library. Special
attention was given to creating a humanistic, safe, and user-friendly
environment that protests patient confidentiality, reflects
the neighborhood culture, and supports collaboration among
several departments. The facility features several shared
amenities for the library, health department and general public,
including a large meeting room, kitchenette, public restrooms
and entrance corridor.
