The Matt Kenseth Fan Club Headquarters project
consists of a 10,000 S.F. building on a very visible
site adjacent to State Highways 12 & 18 just west of
Cambridge, WI. The fan club also has 6,000 square
feet of memoriabilia and retail space which features
memorabilia, trophies and race cars. The fan club
headquarters is themed around the race cars and
the garages that they’re built and modified in; use
of struts and tubular framing form the basis for the
canopy, retail fixtures, railings at the race car displays,
and the tracks for the light fixtures. Other garage
elements include a jack stand to support a plasma
screen, air hoses for “gates”, and the checkout desk
is a tire (desk) and a brake disc (canopy with lights).
Other themed elements include the flag stand up on
the mezzanine similar to track flag stands, use of
checkered plate for corners and door kick plates, victory
lane checkerboard for restroom decor, and use of
a garage door to get vehicles in and out of the display
floor.
The precast concrete panel building houses offices,
retail/display areas and support space. The building
is distinguished by clean, simple massing and its tall
portico facing the highway which features a gently
bowing glass window wall. The interior is likewise
clean and unassuming thus featuring the racing
memorabilia brilliantly displayed within.
